Every implant at our clinic is placed with a navigation (guided) method: the position, angle and depth are planned on a CT scan and an intraoral scan, and the plan is transferred to the mouth with an Osstem OneGuide surgical guide. We use local anaesthesia only.
The five steps
1. Examination and consultation: CT and intraoral scan, review of bone height and width and nerve position, comparison with bridges or dentures. 2. Plan and consent: position, number of implants, whether grafting is needed and what the fee covers, shown on screen and in writing. 3. Guided surgery under local anaesthesia; you go home the same day. 4. Check-up and healing. 5. Custom abutment and zirconia crown, bite adjustment, then check-up schedule.
What can go wrong
Implants have a high success rate but not 100%. Peri-implantitis (gum and bone inflammation around the implant), failed integration requiring re-placement, temporary altered sensation near the lower jaw nerve, loosening or fracture of the crown, and swelling or bruising after surgery can occur. We explain these before treatment and plan the depth and position on the CT to reduce the risks.
Questions
How many visits does an implant take?
Typically consultation and scans (same day), surgery, a check-up one to two weeks later, the crown after the bone has healed (usually two to four months), then periodic check-ups. For patients travelling from far away we combine steps where possible.
Is sedation available?
We use local anaesthesia only and do not offer sedation. Because the position is planned in advance and a surgical guide is used, most patients tolerate the procedure well, and most people can drive home the same day.
What does the price include?
KRW 1,200,000 per tooth includes the Osstem SOI fixture, a custom abutment, a zirconia crown milled in our clinic and the surgical guide. Bone grafting (KRW 300,000) or a sinus lift (KRW 500,000) is added only when the CT shows it is needed.
Is there a warranty?
The fixture is replaced free of charge within 5 years and at 50% of the re-placement cost between 5 and 10 years, provided that scheduled check-ups are kept.
